Best Practice of Institutional Support System of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (ISS-MBKM) with Program Kompetisi Kampus Merdeka (PKKM) in Mulawarman University

Abstract

Mulawarman University's primary scientific pattern and potential role have been determined nationally and internationally. "A university of international standing capable of contributing to nation-building through education, research, and community service that depends on natural resources, particularly tropical rainforest, and its environment." Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) is one of the policies administered by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. To prepare students for a social and cultural world characterized by rapid technological advances and workplace changes, student competencies must be more relevant to current needs. In 2022, the Mulawarman University ISS (Institutional Support System) MBKM team received funding from the Program Kompetisi Kampus Merdeka (PKKM) competition program. The implementation of PKKM at Mulawarman University consists primarily of two activities: Focus Group Discussion activities for developing partnerships with business and industry partners and workshop activities for developing the MBKM model. In Balikpapan, Bontang, and Kutai Kartanegara, there were focus group discussions about forming business and industry partnerships. In Samarinda, workshops on creating the MBKM model were held for coordinators of undergraduate study programs at Mulawarman University. It is anticipated that the outcomes of this PKKM will support the implementation of MBKM at Mulawarman University and the transformation that supports the university's vision and mission, which are based on the tropical rainforest and its environment.
