Abstract

Barnacles (Balanus sp.) are crustaceans that live attached to substrates such as docks, under boats and other living things. Barnacles (Balanus sp.) are destructive to buildings and ships they are attached to and have not been widely used, although barnacles (Balanus sp.) have nutritional value like other crustaceans. This study aims to determine the effect of additional feeding of barnacles (Balanus sp.) on the growth of broiler chickens (Gallus domesticus). This research was conducted in Bontang City. The research method used is experimental. This study used a fully randomized design (FRD) with 4 different treatments and 5 replications. Each treatment consisted of 5 broiler chickens (Gallus domesticus) that were 2 weeks old. The treatment was the concentration of the addition of barnacles (Balanus sp.) in the feed which consisted of 4 types, namely 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. The parameters observed were the body weight gain of chickens (Gallus domesticus). All data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and DMRT follow-up test with a significant level of 0.05%. The results showed that the additional feeding of barnacles (Balanus sp.) had a significant effect on the growth of broiler chickens (Gallus domesticus). The concentration of barnacles (Balanus sp.) that gives the most optimum effect is the addition of 15% in the feed.
